This is the second book of the romantic suspense trilogy by Shiloh Walker, and she does a masterful job. I had read the first book and was so excited to get a chance to read and review this second book. Although ostensibly you could read this book as a standalone, I don't think it would quite have the same impact as reading these books as a unit. Already, I am wishing it was time for the third book. There are no real cliffhangers in these books. But there are central characters that continue through each book. The storyline centers on a small town and a very wealthy family with the last name McKay. The parents have passed but the three adult children all live in the same town. The first book was about the youngest, Neve, and this book centers on the middle child, and only male of the family, Brannon. This is Brannon's HEA and it is a good story with Hannah being a good foil for him. He has to work for his HEA and I was glad that he did. If you enjoy a good suspenseful story, Ms. Walker is a great storyteller and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As I mentioned before, I hope the third book in this series comes out soon!Tags : The Trouble with Temptation (McKays Series) [Shiloh Walker] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Love is the greatest risk of all. After seven days in a coma, Hannah Parker remembers nothing about the accident that landed her in the hospital―or how she ended up pregnant with Brannon’s baby,Shiloh Walker,The Trouble with Temptation (McKays Series),St. Martin's Paperbacks,1250067952,Amnesia;Fiction.,Coma - Patients,Man-woman relationships,Pregnancy;Fiction.,Romance fiction,Romantic suspense fiction.,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,FICTION Romance Contemporary,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction Romance Suspense,Fiction-Suspense,FictionRomance - Suspense,General Adult,MASS MARKET,Romance - Contemporary,Romance - Suspense,Romance Contemporary,RomanceModern,Romance: Modern,United States

I read a book by this author last year and discovered that she writes stories that are contemporary that tug at the readers heartstrings. She also seems to enjoy writing series about families and alas I hadn't realised that this book is the second in the McKays series until I downloaded it . Consequentially I do feel a little nonplussed having missed certain vital clues. My problem is simply that this is clearly a story spanning three books which each feature a different McKay. One brother and two sisters and this book catches up with the brother Brannon.
Brannon has watched his sisters friend Hannah for ten years always believing she was perhaps too young for him and besides he doesn't do relationships . A frantically charged night between them doesn't change much and Brannon loses that which could be the most precious thing in his world, Hannah. Then the unthinkable happens as Hannah is injured, in a coma and pronounced pregnant! O boy does reality come crashing down on Brannon and he is determined to put right that which he did wrong.
Hannah wakes not knowing who she is or what happened but the gorgeous hunk claiming to be her baby's father does seem very familiar . Brannon is sweet and at times it's like he is courting Hannah but her lack of memory is causing all kinds of problems . The night Hannah got injured a woman was murdered and it's possible Hannah might have seen something but if that's true then there's a killer out there who might just strike again!
I quickly caught up with how this story was playing out and the murdered woman was clearly not the nicest person in town and had more enemies than spots on a Dalmatian! It's quite a slow start and the budding relationship just didn't grab my attention. I did immediately like Hannah as even when in the hospital her inner thoughts are anything but pedantic, she isn't a pushover by any means . Brannon hmm, he is finally stepping up but this couple have to overcome his previous behaviour which won't happen unless either he admits he was a cretin and a coward or Hannah remembers.
What I did like ( although I had to pay attention) was the mysterious killer stalking the town in plain sight. I thought the author did a good job of making him a part of the everyday town folks and yet almost invisible hiding his true agenda. There's clearly a connection to the McKay family and the history of their family is discussed giving this reader all kinds of possibilities to ponder.
It would be remiss of me not to mention that there are quite a few supporting characters all vying for the readers attention . The author clearly enjoys muddying the waters and making her readers get their thinking caps on ! Yes there's lots going on and I strongly suspect who might have a starring role in the next book but for now it's all about Brannon and Hannah.
I was gifted a copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
I have to admit that the main reason I wanted to read this book was because of the AMAZING blurb. Hello, angst alert! I was totally in the mood for an angsty read, and Shiloh Walker delivered perfectly with The Trouble with Temptation. I skipped the first book in the McKays series, but I read this one as a standalone with no problems. The Trouble with Temptation is a fabulous small-town romance – it’s heart-wrenching, suspenseful, and sexy. Just all-around an addicting, unputdownable read!
Brannon is experiencing the worst night of his life – the woman he cares about more than any other is lying in the hospital in the coma from an accident… and she’s pregnant with his baby. He’s desperate for her to wake up, to survive, but also scared she won’t give him the time of day if she does wake. Because only hours before, Brannon threw their relationship away, scared at the prospect of love. But now with the possibility of losing Hannah, Brannon realizes he effed up bad – and wants Hannah to wake so he can make things right between them. But when she does wake… it turns out she can’t remember anything or anyone.
Hannah wakes up in the hospital with no memories, only to find out that she’s pregnant, and what’s worse, her accident might not have been an accident at all. The only thing that’s familiar to her is Brannon, so she leans on him to help her heal, unknowing of their past. Brannon tries to do whatever it takes to make Hannah fall in love with him again so she won’t run when she finds out the truth, but what happens when her memories come back?
I loved this book!!! I felt SO much while reading – Brannon’s regret over his mistake, his desperation to keep Hannah in his life, Hannah’s own confusion and doubts about their relationship as her memories slowly surface. Ahhh, the angst – I absolutely loved it! And the groveling from Brannon was perfect too – he messed up big time, but you can feel his regret and determination to win Hannah’s heart again.
“I love you,” he said again. “It could have happened yesterday. Maybe it happened a year ago—five years ago. It could have happened in the past five minutes. I don’t know. I just know I love you.”
The mystery aspect of the book wasn’t the best, but it was suspenseful, and the author had me curious about who caused Hannah’s accident. The romance was definitely the highlight of the book – it was seriously divine!! It’s not easy for me to find GOOD angsty reads, ones where the hero grovels sufficiently, but this one is perfect. I highly recommend it!
I have been reading Shiloh Walker for years and she never disappoints with her books
This series is compelling every time I think I have it figured out a new twist love it!
Great book!
A fast paced, exciting really good read.I don't know if this is the first or last in the series, but I'm going to get them all.
Cliff-hanger.
No interest in cliff-hangers.
Remember this is my personal opinion on cliff-hangers and does not reflect on the author's who write them.
