Jewels of the Sun The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy Irish Trilogy Book 1 Nora Roberts 9780515126778 Books
I love Nora Roberts books, she's such a great storyteller. This book is based in Ireland and it's magic, ghosts, and Irish legends, passed onto generation to generation. I really liked the main characters, as stubborn as they were, and the other supporting characters as well. The Irish are passionate people and that comes out in this story. I've just started book 2 so I could read about them. I loved how I could visualize the Irish landscape by the descriptions Mrs. Roberts provided, not too much detail, but enough to make me want to go visit Ireland. The main characters are very relatable, each flawed in their own way, and they have issues they need to work out in themselves to be truly happy. Jude's been raised to be ladylike, uptight and repressed by her proper mother and thinks fulfilling her dreams is foolishness. It's better to have a good supporting job than to do something you love, doubting her ability to succeed. I enjoyed seeing her blossom and come into her own during the book. Aidan is the typically handsome, charming, yet rough around the edges type of guy. He's taken on the responsibility of running the family pub that has been in the family for generations and enjoys it, he's very hard working, and has a way of reading people as bartenders tend to do over time, but yet can be clueless as men can sometimes be about relationships. I don't want to give anything away so I won't go into further detail. I will say while there is sexual content in the book, it's not all through the book and it's not explicit. You know what's happening without them describing every little detail. There is mild cursing (no F bombs), but it was appropriate considering the personalities of the people cursing.Tags : Jewels of the Sun: The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy (Irish Trilogy, Book 1) [Nora Roberts] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <b>BOOK ONE OF THE GALLAGHERS OF ARDMORE TRILOGY In Gallagher’s Pub, where the fire is burning low and the pints are waiting,Nora Roberts,Jewels of the Sun: The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy (Irish Trilogy, Book 1),Berkley,0515126772,Romance - General,Americans - Travel - Ireland,Ireland,Love stories,FICTION Romance Contemporary,FICTION Romance Fantasy,FICTION Romance General,FICTION Women,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,MASS MARKET,Romance,Romance - Contemporary,RomanceModern,Romance: Modern, nora roberts gallaghers of ardmore trilogy;nora roberts books;relationship books;romantic fiction;books for women;romantic suspense;romance novels;ireland;irish books;paranormal romance;romance books;nora roberts trilogy books;nora roberts trilogy;gallaghers of ardmore trilogy;contemporary romance;fantasy romance;romance;fantasy;contemporary;paranormal;love;dating and relationships;family life;travel;trilogy;magic;supernatural;ghosts;nora roberts trilogy sets;women's fiction;gifts for women, contemporary romance; fantasy romance; romance; fantasy; contemporary; paranormal; love; dating and relationships; family life; travel; Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy; trilogy; Ireland; magic; supernatural; ghosts; nora roberts books; relationship books; romantic fiction; books for women; romantic suspense; romance novels; irish books; paranormal romance; romance books; nora roberts trilogy books; nora roberts trilogy; nora roberts gallaghers of ardmore trilogy; gifts for women; fiction; gifts for her; fiction books; women
Jewels of the Sun The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy Irish Trilogy Book 1 Nora Roberts 9780515126778 Books Reviews
The first time I read this book I was 13 and had snatched it from my mother's book collection. ) 16 years later I have read this dozens of times and listened to the audio book just as many. Jude and Aiden, along with all their family and friends wind around your heart and put you into the story as if you were there, living their words, thoughts, emotions, and the magic of the tale. I will always love this book. It will always be the jewel of my collection, and a book I will re-read dozens of times in the future.
... and I'm in my mid 60's! Not sure why I waited so long, but the theme of faeries, magic and love drew me to it. I was totally captivated by the story. It did get a little cumbersome with descriptions in some spots, but I just skimmed over them once I realized that they were not needed to enhance the enchantment of the story. I read books of all genres, but when I read a fantasy, that's exactly what I want, and this is exactly what I got. I want to be transported to a time and place that are so out of my ordinary daily life, then when I'm done reading, I feel renewed, exuberant for life, and my imagination starts blooming again. When I read a romance novel, I want to feel totally in love with life, brimming with hope and expectation, and I want to identify with the characters on multi-levels. This book did all of that for me. My secret indulgence has become this trilogy and I am looking forward to reading the second in the series. I have a lot of Nora Roberts' reading to catch up on ... and so little time ))
I discovered Norah Roberts a couple of years ago and I'm really thankful that she is a prolific author. I've read a number of her books and I really enjoy her series books. Each is always a stand-alone complete novel, but they all work together to give you a larger story.
This book came up at a lower than normal price and so I grabbed it. She does Irish stories so well; she clearly loves Ireland and its inhabitants. It makes me wish I could visit that lovely country. In this book she skillfully weaves a bit of magic through the story, giving it a special charm. The main character, Jude, comes to Ireland to escape from the desperation of a life lived only for others and in need of some serious soul healing. She comes to learn much about herself and discovers inner strength and gives wing to a dream she never dared to dream. It was wonderful to watch her take root and bud and then bloom like one of the beautiful flowers in the garden of the cottage where she lives in Ireland.
In addition to a tale of self discovery and personal growth, there is also the love story. Magical people making magic in more ways than one. I found myself laughing and crying at different parts of the book. I tried to tell myself that I would just buy the one book, but there are two others in the trilogy and now I know I will have to budget for the others. I want to see how the other people in the book play their parts in the two other books in this series.
